What’s more fun than planning your own wedding?! Dustin and I met and quickly fell in love! Just a few short weeks after meeting and falling for each other, Dustin told his family that I was the girl he was going to marry! 6 months later, he proposed proving his statement correct! Our relationship shows me what love really is and inspires me to be a great wife! We knew we wanted to plan a wedding that demonstrated what our relationship was really about! Dustin’s ring even had my finger print imprinted along the outside, created by Brent & Jess located right in Topsham, Maine!
We found this gorgeous venue in Colorado (the Hudson Gardens) and decided we wanted to stick with a burlap & lace theme to match this beautiful garden setting tucked away not far from Denver. We also accidentally came across this theme surrounding our home states- Maine and Wisconsin! You will see the theme scattered throughout our day in various details. It was a perfect Colorado afternoon and thanks to Shelley Coar Photography, we really captured the beauty in the day.
It started with a first glance, followed by wedding party and family photos all before the ceremony. We wanted to maximize the time we had with all of our out-of-town guests. There were plenty of them who traveled from far!
The venue so naturally created these fairy tail photos that captured the essence of our relationship!
Our escort cards, guiding everyone to tables, were maps of hikes we LOVE. Hiking is what started building our relationship. We could share some of our favorite places with our guests this way.
We couldn’t decide between cake or pie, so what better decision to have BOTH! The cake was beautifully designed and decorated by the Makery Cake Company. On the other side of it, Dustin and I both loved the pies our mom’s make, so hoped they’d be up for the challenge. Homemade pies on our wedding day seemed like a perfect touch to helping guests feel welcome and at ease. The mom’s did great (even despite the elevation challenges that baking in Colorado can bring) and they ultimately, filled the dessert table with a variety of flavors, from rhubarb to apple to chocolate cream. They were a hit and the combo of the two desserts were perfect!
The party ended with plenty of dancing and solo rapping from loved ones! We both left the day feeling really great about the day we created and we couldn’t have asked for a better day celebrating our new marriage! Our wedding was:
garden inspired
vintage
romantic
sweet
fresh
