Our first Irish wedding is now in the books! Clíodhna and Jack, who met in school at MIT, had a stellar celebration with their friends and family who traveled from all over the world to be there with them! Clíodhna’s family is from Ireland and although there were so many great details that were a nod to Irish traditions, Jack’s family was also well represented on the weekend!
Events on Thursday at Ri Ra kickstarted their weekend, but Friday’s rehearsal before dinner was also a hit! Mainely Sips, which has a connection to Jack’s family, greeted everyone before we rehearsed and gave significant others something fun to center around while we went through the details of the ceremony!
There are so many great things to share about Saturday and I won’t be able to hit them all!
Once again, another emotional moment for me was waiting with Clíodhna and her dad before she walked down the aisle. It’s such an honor to be able to witness those powerful emotions that sneak up on so many of us just before we get married! After getting married, guests mingled and looked over many old family photos as well as beautiful photos of these two! And guests got to see the beauty of Jack’s wood working skills! I had been nervous Jack was so ambitious with all the projects he wanted to tackle for his wedding, but he did it and gosh, he’s talented! From a welcome sign, to an escort card display, to table numbers and a card box! I actually overheard guests at dinner talking about his talents! Other moments and details to share:
Hearing Clíodhna’s toast end with how excited she was to share her first dance with her husband gave me all those good tingles!!
Their dog, Marcel, made his appearance not only on napkins we see so often, but he was also engraved into the card box that Jack handmade!
Jack’s family has a tradition with a cup– one we were so confused about until we saw it in person and heard his mom share it with their guests. It’s been in the family since 1913 and Clíodhna and Jack’s names will be about the 90th and 91st engraved on the cup and they drank out of it following their cake cutting!
The Siege of Ennis dance was a blast!
Late night food was very appropriately Irish sausage!
These two didn’t stop smiling all night and it was a pleasure to be a part of this journey with them and help execute all the details!
