Hey friends!
I’m definitely not here to tell you whether or not you need insurance. In some cases, venues require it, and in that case, YES, definitely get it. In other cases, no one requires it, but you still may choose to insure your day.
If you need or want insurance, we can help point you in the right direction!
What does event insurance cover?
Each policy is different, but you’ll want a policy that offers liability and cancellation. You’ll notice that with many of your vendor contracts that you’ve paid a deposit that you won’t get back if you cancel. Event insurance will help you be covered. And don’t take this from a place if you were to split, but rather if someone becomes seriously ill and you need to postpone your plans. Some policies cover damages to clothing or gifts. This is usually a lower cost, but not in all cases. How much are you spending on your dress?
So where do you get?
If you come to me seeking advice about insurance, I’ll always direct you to your current insurance policies. Where’s your renter’s insurance, auto, or home owner’s policy through? Often, they’ll be able to offer you event insurance.
If that fails you, look into Progressive’s Event Insurance. I love their Event Insurance 101 page! So helpful!
You can also research wedding specific companies, like WedSure. These companies offer even more options to coverage, like photography or major weather disasters. (WedSure uses Allianz which most airlines operate with).
Lots of other options out there too— just do some quick research.
How much is the investment?
Just a few hundred dollars. Worth it when your spending thousands on your wedding day!
So, now what?
As with everything we seek a service for, do your research and gather a few quotes. Compare what the policies offer.
xo,
Cassie
