Emily and Phil brought us to a new spot we hadn’t yet planned and right from the beginning after seeing the spaces, I was so inspired by Emily’s ideas for planning! St. Ann’s by the Sea is an incredible stone church with expansive ocean views and the Kennebunk River Club brought everyone a little closer together with more intimate river views with plenty of boats! It was such an ideal spot for these two! The design was mainly centered on coastal inspiration with blues, but there was also a pop of pink which brought this fun summer feel to the day! The blues were a mix of patterns and solid colors and there were family ginger jars used on the tables, just as accept pieces but also as vases. Having them being pulled from home was the best because it was intentional. And any other accent items we used was like a coastal wicker, from their card box to beverage dispenser to frames. The visual parts of the day were stunning!
The weekend started with rehearsal at the church and although I don’t typically share details about rehearsal, I’ll always remember this one. We were in a major rain storm that afternoon! While we were inside the church going through the details, the lights went out, leaving us in complete darkness! It didn’t last long, but long enough for it to feel memorable and maybe even spiritual for some.
That rain didn’t last and instead, we woke to a beautiful Saturday in Kennebunkport! Guests arrived on trolleys, some by golf cart, and others by foot. They were welcomed by friends who handed out programs and they settled into the pews enjoying the views as they waited for the wedding party to process down the aisle. There were strong emotions floating through everyone, but joy was definitely the most visible as they came back down the aisle! I couldn’t have been happier for these two at this moment! They had had a hard year.
Everyone gathered back at the River Club and enjoyed the incredible late afternoon on the porch, completely emerging in conversation over a good drink and snack (from Kitchen Chicks) while also being able to enjoy the boats going by. The speeches were a memorable part of Emily and Phil’s Day. Her sister, Ali, shared about being inseparable as kids and their evolving relationship and Jamey, Phil’s best man expressed how valuable their friendship is, sharing so many things together, even the love of Disney. He wrapped it up by singing to them a favorite Disney song and Emily and Phil took a moment to dance while he did it! Although this was a surprise to them, it was a well received one!
Their crew had a blast! The dance floor was packed, cake was eaten by most, and everyone was just so happy and friendly all night! We say this so often, but it truly was a pleasure to work with these two.
