Katie and Dave met at a work meeting and although they both weren’t sure at that point, a first date was set after seeing each other again at a retirement party! These two are a reminder of why we plan weddings– they are such kind people and it was simply a pleasure to work with them and bring their ideas to life on their wedding day!
When Katie used the phrase “Polished Pop”, I knew it was going to be fun to design! We worked through their ideas and much of the design centered around Katie’s love for a red-orange color and their common love of baking and eating sweets! One of the harder decisions to make surrounded the plates with flatware and the linens. We were using One Stop and we needed a balance of femininity, but also a modern pop as well! We also had an opportunity to pick some amazing linens throughout the space and although it took us some time, we love where it landed (and even made changes during our design review– a reminder that our last review is such an important part of our process)!
We had a large space to fill at Brick South and it was a success! It’s fun to look at a space for the first time because we’re able to see it with a fresh perspective, which is exactly the case for their wedding. We knew we needed to divide the large building in different way and we ultimately chose a combination of draping, wood dividers (with foliage to soften them a bit), and lighting for an incredible feel in the space!
Katie and Dave heard compliments all night, from their guests and even the bartending staff at Brick South! It was an incredible day! It began with a simple processional down the aisle of Dave with their friend, Ben who was also their officiant, followed by Katie. Guests mingled in the cocktail hour space and truly just enjoyed themselves with minimal interruptions. The DJ only interjected when he announced these two newlyweds who gave the only speech for the night and when he got them onto the dance floor for their first dance. They got top tier food and service with Bread and Butter and indulged at the dessert bar from Bear Brook Bakery and no one went home hungry because there were to-go boxes for not only dessert, but also for the late night grilled cheese!
As Dave said during his welcome toast, it is beautiful when you can find someone who you adore, amuses you, and also challenges you. We are so glad these two have each other and we can’t wait to continue following along with their story!
