Happy Thursday everyone! I’m here today to help you with wedding websites! Building a website can feel like a daunting task and at times, just another thing on your to-do list. But, don’t worry because we’ll get through it!
The first step in building your website is to choose your platform. You can pick Zola, an extremely popular and user friendly site that has tons of templates that you can customize. Oh, and did I mention that Zola is free? This can be a great choice if you have a little bit of a tighter budget. You could also choose Squarespace, which is a little more advanced than Zola but still quite user friendly. Squarespace is like Zola in that it has tons of templates to choose from that you can customize also. However, it allows you to make a stand alone website. Squarespace requires a monthly subscription, but its pretty reasonably priced. The Knot also offers something free, and very similar to Zola, if you have a preference for one over the other.
The next step is to start designing! This is, in my opinion, the fun part. You can customize your site with colors and different elements available on each platform. And, of course, you can add some photos of you and your fiancé throughout the years! Also, don’t think you have to stay with the colors you’ve chosen for your wedding either. Your website, although a reflection of your big day, can be different. Whatever you decide, just make sure to make it yours!
Your final step is to plug in all of the information you want available on your website. This really is the purpose for your website. Although the pictures and colors are beautiful, your website first and foremost is a resource for your guests. You may not have all of this info when you create your site, but input it as you get it so you don’t forget anything. Here are some things you may want to include.
Dress code
Schedule of events
FAQ (Are children welcome…etc.)
A place to virtually RSVP
Transportation details and options
Accommodation information (Especially great if you have a block of hotel rooms)
Registry (or link to it)
Your love story
Anything else you want!
After you do all of this- it’s time to hit publish, because you’re done! You’ve successfully created a wonderful resource for your guests. But, if you have any more questions, you know where to find me!
